Ongoing Federal Shutdown Updates

Supplemental Nutrition Program SNAP

On November 6, 2025, a U.S. District Court ordered the federal government to issue full November SNAP benefit payments to eligible households. New York has begun issuing full SNAP benefits to all eligible households. Some New Yorkers could have access to their benefits as soon as Sunday, November 9, and all are expected to receive their full benefits by the end of the week. For more information, visit: otda.ny.gov/shutdown-resources.

During the SNAP interruptions, recipients can visit their local food pantry.

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown and the lack of federal funding, the start of applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) has been delayed until further notice. Households lacking resources that can’t afford a fuel delivery or are facing a utility shutoff can apply for Emergency Assistance through the Temporary Assistance Program.
