The Fraud Unit conducts investigations of clients and vendors where there is an allegation or suspicion of fraudulent activity concerning benefits or potential benefits by Social Services. This could include, but not limited to, unreported income, unreported resources and household composition being in question.
Case denial or closure, the recovery of benefits not entitled to, and possible criminal conviction may occur because of an investigation.
