Emergency Management
Lewis County Emergency Management is charged with supporting and promoting an organized, systematic approach to Emergency Planning, Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery in the event of a natural or man made disaster in Lewis County, and to support the day to day operations of the many Emergency Service, Public Service, Public Safety, and Emergency Management organizations.
EMS Study Updates: May 2026
Lewis County recently completed a comprehensive Emergency Medical Services (EMS) sustainability study to better understand the challenges facing our current emergency response system. The study conducted by CGR, an independent consulting group, examined call volume, staffing levels, volunteer availability, response expectations, and the long‑term viability of the EMS system.
Its purpose is to identify practical, data‑driven solutions that will strengthen reliability, ensure timely medical response, and support both volunteer and paid EMS providers as demands continue to rise.
The full report offers several recommendations aimed at improving countywide coverage, addressing service gaps, and preparing for the future of emergency medical care in Lewis County.
Update: On June 10, 2026, an addendum was issued from CGR to the original report featuring more detailed information about the hospital transports.
