Financial assistance may be available for a burial or cremation when a Lewis County resident passes away leaving:
- No funds or insurance sufficient to pay the cost
- No relatives, friends, or other persons liable for or willing to take the responsibility for burial expenses
Approval from the DSS is required prior to finalizing any arrangements with the funeral home.
