Classroom Training Grants
What is Classroom Training?
Classroom Training (CRT) grants and programs cover the costs of educational programs, vocational schooling, or upskilling designed to prepare participants for high-demand, sustainable-wage jobs. Training and education can help you get the job you are looking for, and it can also help you earn more. Lewis County has various opportunities and training programs available. See if one of them is right for you!
How it Works!
There are several types of CRT programs, with each one having slightly different guidelines. In general, a CRT participant would need to meet the following requirements:
-
Acceptance or enrollment in a college or trade school that is on the eligible training provider list. Examples would include BOCES or Jefferson Community College.
-
Be pursuing a degree or certificate in an in-demand occupation, LPN, RN, HVAC, Electrician, etc.
-
The classes you need to take are either not eligible for financial aid or cost more than your financial aid will cover.
-
Income guidelines vary by program. GPA requirements may also exist.
If you meet the above requirements, The WorkPlace may be able to provide financial assistance towards your tuition.
- Please note that financial assistance from The Lewis County WorkPlace can only be used towards tuition & mandatory fees.
Courses We May Fund
This list is not all inclusive and “non in demand trainings” may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Funding a customer will depend on a variety of factors to include, but not limited to:
- Customer eligibility for WIOA funding
- Class availability
- Is it an in-demand occupation
- Number of jobs available in the Jefferson-Lewis area for that degree, license, etc.
- Whether the customer already has a marketable trade or degree.
