Classroom Training Grants
What is Classroom Training?
The CRT program is designed to help unemployed and underemployed people improve their situation in the workforce by providing financial assistance in acquiring a degree or certificate in a high demand occupation.
How it Works!
There are several types of CRT programs, with each one having slightly different guidelines. In general, a CRT participant would need to meet the following requirements:
-
Be attending or accepted into a college or trade school that is considered an Eligible Training Provider, such as BOCES or JCC.
-
Be pursuing a degree or certificate in an in-demand occupation, LPN, RN, HVAC, Electrician, etc.
-
The classes you need to take are either not eligible for financial aid or cost more than your financial aid will cover.
-
Meet certain income and GPA requirements (varies by program). Generally, if you are making less than $25.00 per hour, you will most likely qualify for funding. If your parents or guardians claim you on their income taxes, you must meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines to be eligible for funding.
-
Are within four semesters of completing your degree or certificate.
If you meet the above requirements, The WorkPlace may be able to provide financial assistance towards your tuition up to the financial limit allowed for the specific program & as funding allows.
- Please note that financial assistance from The WorkPlace can only be used towards tuition & mandatory fees and is paid directly to the school or program. We cannot reimburse an individual after the fact.
Courses We May Fund
This list is not all inclusive & we will consider other training on a case-by-case basis, if the training does not fall under the “what we cannot fund” list below.
Whether we can fund a customer will depend on a variety of factors to include, but not limited to:
- Customer eligibility for WIOA funding
- Class availability
- Is it an in-demand occupation
- Number of jobs available in the Jefferson-Lewis area for that degree, license, etc.
