The NYS Office of Emergency Management has provided the Department of Financial Services hotline that will be available daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM to answer any questions about insurance needs in our community. Please call 1-800-339-1759 with your questions.
FEMA declared Disaster 4814 for the July 9th and 10th storm. The following municipalities and community stakeholders have applied for FEMA assistance:
FEMA declared Disaster 4839 ( August 18th and 19th storm)
The Village of Lowville, Lowville Academy, and Lewis County have submitted for damages that were incurred during the August 18th and 19th disaster. In the coming months, they will work with representatives from DHSES and FEMA to prepare their comprehensive list of damages and proposed repair or mitigation projects.

The in-person SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center is open January 3rd-17th on weekdays from 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays 10 AM to 2 PM. Located at the Outdoor Services Building, 7356 East Road, Lowville.

Lewis County Department of Social Services can assist with health and safety items such as replacing furnaces and hot water heaters damaged or lost in the recent flooding for individuals who meet income guidelines.

Tetanus is a bacteria that can be found in soil, manure, and on rusty objects. Even minor cuts/scrapes exposed to flood water are at risk for tetanus infection and may warrant a tetanus shot. Individuals with wounds who have not had a tetanus shot within the last 5 years should receive a booster. Tetanus shots should be given within 48 hours of exposure.
